Texas Mom Gives Birth on Highway on the Way to the Hospital
If you think you have reason to speed down the highway, it’s probably not as dire as Randall Eakes’s reason. Last week, Randall, his wife Kristen, and three kids attempted to make it to Conroe Regional Hospital in time, but instead, had to pull over on Highway 105 for Kristen to give birth!
The baby wanted to make its entrance into the world a fast one. Kristen told KHOU about the conversation with her husband 10 miles away from the hospital: “I said he’s crowning. And he said ‘No he’s not.’ And he put his hand down there and said ‘Oh my gosh!’ The next thing I know, I was pushing and he was pulling him out, and my kids were in the back seat, and they were like ‘this is so cool!'”
The gender was a surprise for the parents as well, and they named the 8 pound 11 ounce baby boy Everett Asher Eakes. The couple had tried to call 911 before the birth by asking iPhone’s built-in assistant Siri to dial for them. Siri thought they meant to call “John,” so the hands-free option didn’t quite work out. After the baby was born, an ambulance arrived to help, and now, mom and baby are doing great.
