A Texas Hill Country family expecting a baby in the summer of 2019 has made a social media splash with their announcement. Their pregnancy pictures were taken at an H-E-B store on Bulverde Road in San Antonio!
Expectant mother Ashley Quinn-Mercer said that the photography session was taken with Dillon Kirk near the close of December 2018, and the professional photographer captured the family’s excitement without fail. The H-E-B store location lent itself nicely as a unique backdrop – one in which the family could express their true personalities and glowing excitement over the news of their new bundle of joy!

Mercer, together with her husband Philip as well as her stepson Kash, feature prominently in the pregnancy announcement pictures while they load their cart with all things necessary for a happy expectancy – right down to ice cream for those prenatal cravings! When asked why H-E-B was their setting of choice, she said in an email, “I’ve been in the marketing industry for the latter part of 13 years and I’ve developed a love for visual elements packed with color and have always loved high-end fashion editorials. Definitely not implying our photo shoot is high-end or high fashion, however, HEB provided an excellent canvas for my vision to come to life—after all, food and pregnancy go hand in hand.”
As it turns out, there is also a bit of a personal reason why Mercer and her family selected this popular grocery store setting in the Texas Hill Country. “My father-in-law, Ken Mercer, was a truck driver for H-E-B for 41 years and recently retired. H-E-B is a staple in our family,” she explained to foxsanantonio.com. Photographer Dillon Kirk was selected for the family’s session for a variety of reasons. “I contacted Dillon and shared my unconventional idea with him, and he instantly got it. Dillon is extremely talented and has an eye for the avantgarde—so it was a no brainer for me to contact my friend,” Ashley said. “He allowed my creative process to flourish and captured our quirky, punny, and candid moments perfectly, in my opinion. I’ll continue to hire Dillon for all our family’s memories to be frozen in time. He’s the best and so easy to work with!”

With a July due date and a creative family such as this, you can be sure to anticipate some equally creative gender reveal projects ahead as well! “We’ve decided to keep the gender reveal intimate and low key and share with our closest family and friends at the home I grew up in—my parents’ home in beautiful Spring Branch, Texas,” Ashley noted. A pregnancy announcement at an H-E-B is one of the more Texan ways we’ve heard of doing such a thing. Who wouldn’t want to be surrounded by all that great food and your family in one of the most popular Lone Star State settings ever?! Cravings aside, this grocery chain has it all, including the ability to now say it’s a popular photo session backdrop. Expectant family in frozen foods!
