Happy Friday, and welcome to Texas Hill Country’s newest feature, “Hill Country Happenings”. With so many events going on throughout our region, we realize it can be tough keeping track of them all. Now you can check here every Friday afternoon and plan your following week accordingly! (When planning, our weeks tend to run Monday-Friday, with the weekend being on Saturday and Sunday, so we’ll give you the latest info for next Monday-Sunday.)

Blanco Blood Drive Donating blood is a great way to do your part in saving lives, and it’s relatively painless and easy to do. Plus not only are you saving a life, but you get a free t-shirt to boot. 3rd Annual Capital of Texas Police Motorcycle Chute Out The COTPMCO is a huge fundraising event that hosts law enforcement agencies from throughout the Hill Country and beyond. Dripping Springs Farmers Market Logo

Dripping Springs Farmers Market Local Hill Country farmers peddle their produce to the public, while also educating them about the benefits of buying local. From kettle corn to maple syrup to organically grown rutabagas, you will find all sorts of goods at this weekly event. Vendor space is also available. Free. 3 p.m. – dusk. Sabinal Wild Hog Festival and Crafts Fair The 25th annual festival, hosted by the local Lion’s Club, will feature all sorts of events, from arts and crafts to wild hog chases. International Tree Climbing Championship Celebrating its 40th anniversary, the ITCC will host over 60 of the world’s best professional tree climbers who are competing for the title of world champion. 6th Annual Music and Crawfish Festival Come eat, drink and dance at this community event. There will be plenty of food, a raffle and lots of music for everyone to enjoy, not to mention the half ton of crawfish that will be boiled. Free. 3 pm. Castell Grind Bike Race Bike riders combine exercise with a beautiful view at this annual bike ride/race. With 50k, 72k and 100k divisions, this race takes participants through scenic winding back country roads, truly testing their strength and endurance. Fee for riders, free for spectators. Spring Slamboree Mash Up Kerrville County Roller Derby hosts its first bout of the season, and for a great cause. All proceeds will benefit a member’s spouse currently undergoing cancer treatment.
