Who doesn’t love a good old-fashioned summertime romance? Especially when a jilted bride-wanna-be gets a second chance at love. JoJo Fletcher, the “runner up” in last season’s The Bachelor now finds herself in charge of the rose handouts in the latest season of ABC’s long-time running reality show for those longing for love, The Bachelorette.

In the show’s Cinderella story season opener last Monday night, JoJo, a Dallas real estate developer, met 26 eligible rose-seeking bachelors from all walks of life. From a former NFL quarterback to an erectile dysfunction specialist to a U.S. Marine, JoJo has her work cut out for her, narrowing the pool of heart-throb hopefuls.

And, many candidates took their introduction to the Bachelorette as an opportunity to set themselves apart from the pack. Take, for instance, Nick who showed up in a Santa Claus suit and laughed, “Jo, Jo, Jo!” (as opposed to the more familiar “Ho, ho, ho”). Then there was John, who sported a kilt and chose to speak about his private parts by way of an introduction. Then finally the Texas Hill Country’s own Luke (he’s a West Point grad, war veteran, and songwriter now living in Nashville, but originally hailing from Burnet) enters on a white horse complete with solitary horn claiming JoJo to be his unicorn – a nod to her antics in last season’s opener when she met Ben wearing a unicorn’s head.

With a first episode of that caliber, Hill Country women everywhere should gather their girlfriends, grab a bottle of red and a pizza, and make a date with their televisions on Monday nights. Will JoJo choose the Hill Country boy or another lonely heart longing for love? We must all watch and see…

The Bachelorette airs Mondays on ABC at 8:00 p.m. CST.
