Envious are our autumn days here in Texas. While many of our neighbors to the north are buried in layers of clothes, the Texas Hill Country begins the best patio weather. There is no lack of great dining to be had in this area, but the options can be almost overwhelming. One must go-to stop is the Blue Star Arts Complex. This all-encompassing, riverside location is perfect for a leisurely afternoon lunch or a romantic night out.

The first stop on this romp is Stella Public House – a hip, new style pizzeria with ample tap craft beers. Although the beer is inviting, the food is what will bring you back time and time again. Not only is the fare adventurous, it is also all locally grown and cultivated. Stella’s “farm to pizza” philosophy sets them apart in taste and community.

As well, the urban outdoor seating allows you to take in the city while devouring fresh country grown ingredients.

This day out, however, does not end with this meal. Next, you’ll pass through the adjoining galley door into the invigorating aroma of their sister operation Halcyon Coffee Bar. Macchiato or fresh roasted S’mores? Why choose? Get both and enjoy them on their open air patio with views of the river. Halcyon Coffee Bar brings a bit of a nostalgic feel to this inner city location by allowing you to roast your s’mores at your table!

Wrap your dining experience up at Blue Star Brewery where a fresh brewed, fully organic beer is waiting for you. Blue Star Brewery is one of the premier local breweries who take pride in their Texas Roots. They also offer a full dining menu and organic, antibiotic, and hormone-free meat selection.

When it’s time to walk it off, you will encounter numerous art exhibits. Stroll the unique galleries, and then stroll the magical river. If you truly want to maximize the experience, take a walk just as the sun sets and the music begins. Jazz on Tuesdays is just a smidge of what this experience has to offer. Blue Star Art Complex brings your inner hipster to light and provides a one of a kind experience in the heart of San Antonio. And, if you’re curious, here’s a list of local farms they support.
