The war on law enforcement continues. New York State Corrections Officer, Henry Wright, and his wife, Sharon Floyd-Wright joined the list of its latest victims after a home invasion resulted in their getting shot.

According to news sources, a man knocked on the door of the Wright’s home in Queens, New York and said, “It’s Rob.” Knowing Rob as a fellow corrections officer, Mrs. Floyd-Wright answered the door. As she did, two armed men shoved past her into the home.

They shot her in the shoulder and shot her husband in the chest five times. Mrs. Floyd-Wright grabbed a hammer and bashed one of her attackers in the head with the claw end as he fled the scene. The suspects escaped in a sedan that had been double-parked in the street near the Wright’s home.

Police responded to a call for assistance that night and found Corrections Officer Wright unconscious and unresponsive. Blood was found near the location where the suspects’ vehicle had been parked and six 9-mm shell casings were recovered at the scene.

Police sources believe Corrections Officer Wright was intentionally targeted.  “That’s what inmates do when they get out if they have a problem with you — they try to find you,” said an unidentified police source.

According to PIX11, on November 30th, the sedan was identified as a light colored 2011-2015 Hyundai Elantra, similar to the one pictured above. The shooters have been described as young men between the ages of 20 to 30. They wore dark-colored hoodies and black jeans. As they fled, one man said, “Let Rob know I was here.” No connection between Rob, whose full name has not been released, and the suspects has been established.

No arrests have yet been made and the investigation is ongoing. Officers visited hospitals in the local area looking for anyone suffering from the type of injury Mrs. Floyd-Wright caused her attacker.

On Wednesday, November 30, 2016,  the New York State Correctional Officers Police Benevolent Association offered a $25,000 reward  for information leading to an arrest in this incident.  According to Michael Powers, NYSCO PBA President, “We are shocked at the shooting of one of our most valued members and his wife. This level of violence, especially against a law enforcement member, cannot be tolerated.”

Officer Wright underwent surgery. He is listed in critical condition with life threatening injuries. Mrs. Wright, while in better condition than her husband, is also listed in critical condition.

Anyone with information regarding this attack is urged to submit tips to police by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), visiting www.nypdcrimestoppers.com, or texting 274637 (CRIMES) then entering TIP577.
