Houston Astros Defeat Yankees in Game 7 to Win ALCS Pennant and Advance to the World Series

By  |

Just like that, the Houston Astros take game 7 from the Yankees to win the AL Pennant to go to the World Series. In a stellar 4-0 win, the Astros advance in what is truly a Cinderella story of baseball. “Only four years after losing a club-record 111 games — in their first year in the AL in 2013 — the Astros completed a remarkable run to the World Series by beating the Yankees, 4-0, on Saturday night to win the ALCS presented by Camping World and send Houston to its second Fall Classic,” stated mlb.com.

The Astros advance to face off against the National League Champs the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 113th World Series match-up to begin October 24, 2017, at Dodger Stadium. This marks the Astros second appearance in The World Series since 2005.

The crowd was roaring from the moment the first pitch was thrown out. Fans filled Minute Maid Stadium to the brim with everyone decked out in true Astros form sporting their orange jerseys in support of their favorite players including this reporter. A once-in-a-lifetime moment to witness such a historic battle between our Texas team and the Yanks. Coming together like a band of brothers as a force to be reckoned with bringing its city back to life after the devastation of Harvey and proving “Houston is Strong” not only as a team but as an entire city in unity moving forward to play on the biggest stage in baseball.

“The deafening roars began on the first pitch thrown by Charlie Morton in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series, and they didn’t stop. Solo homers by Evan Gattis in the fourth inning and Jose Altuve in the fifth rocked Minute Maid Park, and a two-run double by Brian McCann later in the fifth sent the ballpark into a frenzy,” shared mlb.com.
