Canino Produce Houston’s Farmers Market, a long standing staple among the community is set to get a total makeover making it a must see destination when visiting the Space City. Investors are hoping it will garner the same attention as other bustling farmers markets in cities like New York, Seattle, and Chicago to name a few.

According to an article by KHOU, this staple among the community since 1958 “will transform into an organized destination retail experience. It’s an idea MLB Capital Partners of Houston drafted after purchasing the market a few months back.” A farmers market that hasn’t changed much since its opening, except for the prices, will become a farmers market to be reckoned with and a destination for tourist, visitors, and locals alike to put on their bucket list of places to see while visiting Houston.

““What we’re excited about is the ability to keep the history and embrace that, and add to the product offerings,” said Jeff Lindenberger with MLP Capital Partners in an interview with KHOU. Construction is slated for the coming spring with additions that will include turning this over 14 acres of a gem into a charming green space with shaded spaces, climate control, restrooms, and areas dedicated for seafood and meats.

In keeping with its original concept of providing food tastings and demonstrations as shared on its Facebook page, this market will continue with that history and kick it up a notch by providing chef demonstrations and live entertainment. During the renovations, the plans are for the market to stay open as updates will be made in sections.
