Celebrate Independence Day with Family Fun at Dallas Arboretum

Celebrate Independence Day at Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden with live music concerts. Food specials include $2 hot dogs and refreshing root beer floats, plus complimentary beer samples. Active and retired military and first responders receive free garden admission when they show valid photo I.D. Military appreciation dates are June 29-30 and July 4, 6, and 7.

Starting June 29, patriotic music performances by 1st Cavalry Band from Fort Hood take place on the Martin Rutchik Concert Stage from 2-4 p.m. Adult guests are invited to enjoy free beer samples from Franconia Brewing Company at A Tasteful Place. Relax and enjoy the view from Three Sisters Lagoon Overlook.

On June 30, the 36th Division Band, winner of the Excellence for Military Concert Bands, performs from noon to 2 p.m. on the concert stage. The band will play patriotic classics plus some contemporary and jazz musical surprises. Old Town Brewhouse will hand out free beer samples from noon to 3 p.m. at A Tasteful Place.

July 4 brings the popular Rushmore Band to the stage from 2 to 4 p.m. Window to the Wild bird show also returns with performances by feathered stars like Tonks, Athena, and Fearnon. The birds soar over the concert stage at 10:30 a.m. From noon to 3 p.m., guests can enjoy free beer samples from 3 Nations Brewery at Three Sisters Lagoon Overlook at A Tasteful Place. Also, learn how to make a cherry pie from scratch. Emporium Pies demonstrates how to make their signature cherry pie, with tips on how to make a flaky pie crust, a delicious cherry filling, and a beautiful lattice top. Guests can purchase pie until 2 p.m.

On July 6, pack your travel stroller and bring a picnic to the Martin Rutchik Concert Stage and Lawn to enjoy a musical performance. Top Dallas party band Moving Colors plays from 2-4 p.m. The Powell Brothers, Country-Americana recording artists from Houston, take the stage on July 7 from 2-4 p.m. Concerts and shows are free with paid garden admission.

Activities for the little ones in the family include a visit to Country Critters petting zoo, or have their faces painted at A Fresh Perspective face painting. Activities are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Pecan Grove.

The Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden also invites children to learn history through story time with the nation’s bird, Eddie the Eagle. Also visit the July 4th Plant Lab and the OmniGlobe presentation.
