At 6:30 p.m. on September 4th, at the Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, the Texas Longhorns start their season facing off against Notre Dame. But before the game begins, sports fans will be treated to a performance of our national anthem by Jack Ingram.

Jack Ingram has impressed audiences since 1997 with his charisma and personal songwriting. It took a while for the mainstream country world to really appreciate Ingram’s Texas Country charm, but in 2008, he won the Academy of Country Music’s “Best New Male Vocalist” award. From there, he reached commercial success while keeping a sense of perspective on what success means and how to keep aspirations alive. His rendition of the “The Star-Spangled Banner” will have the spirit of the American dream.

The game following Ingram’s performance should be an exciting one! According to Texassports.com, “The schools have combined to win over 72 percent of their games in their histories. The last meeting in Austin pitted the No. 6 Longhorns vs. the No. 9 Fighting Irish in 1996. That game came down to the wire as Notre Dame kicked a 39-yard field goal as time expired in a 27-24 Irish victory.”

Let’s hope for a Longhorn victory on September 4th!
