Jeep’s Wrangler is powered by a 2.0-Liter DOHC DI Turbo PHEV engine assisted by an 8-speed automatic 8P75PREV transmission.

This first ever electrified Wrangler will be initially offered in two trim levels, Wrangler Sahara 4Xe and Wrangler Rubicon 4Xe. Focus for this column will be on the Rubicon. The electrified Wrangler will go from 0-60 miles per hour in just under 6 seconds and a 17KWh battery.

The Wrangler gets 20 mpg gasoline and 49 MPGe. This mileage will be sufficient for most daily commuting and hours of off road adventures.

Jeep Wrangler 4Xe is assembled at FCA’s Toledo Assembly Complex in Toledo, Ohio. Both Wrangler trims await you at your nearest Jeep dealership.

The Jeep® brand is creating the Jeep 4xe Charging Network, installing Jeep-branded EV charging stations at or near the trailheads of Jeep Badge of Honor off-road trails over the next year. The trailhead chargers coincide with the launch of 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid — the most technically advanced and eco-friendly Wrangler yet — and will support future electrified Jeep vehicles.

The 2021 Jeep Wrangler is reported to be the greenest and most capable Wrangler ever created.

Global President of Jeep Brand FCA said, “We are committed to making Jeep the greenest SUV brand and the new Wrangler 4Xe is part of that goal delivering an efficient ecofriendly and fun to drive experience both on and off road.”

Inside you will be greeted by an 8.4-inch radio and Premium Group and a cluster 7.0-inch TFT Display. Features include Apple CarPlay, Google, Android Auto, Sirius XM Guardian, Sirius XM Traffic Plus and Emergency Assistance Call.

Leather-trimmed bucket seats and premium wrapped instrument panel bezels sets your comfortable level as the air conditioning with automatic temperature control aids interior comfort. Power front windows with 1-touch-down add to outside discovery.

Outside Wrangler Firecracker Red Clear Coat Paint merges with Sun rider Soft Top, full-size spare tire, 2-front, i-rear tow hooks, power heated mirror and automatic headlights outside panorama.

All this good stuff rests on 17-inch X 7.5-inch machine polished black wheels and off road tires.

Jeep Wrangler is a versatile vehicle. It tackles big city traffic with its quickness and easy parking, while it tackles more rural roads with ruggedness and dependability. But let’s be honest, Wrangler was bred for off-road travel.

An example of Wrangler off road capabilities lies in the doors. When you remove the doors, the mirrors (power heated) stay attached, unlike some competitors. The doors are tall so they easily support the mirrors. This enhances your ability to travel the narrow and vegetation littered trails. Doors are easily removed because of the exposed door hinges.

I experienced little wind noise driving Wrangler, whether driving on highways or farm to market roads with doors attached.

With the touch of a button Wrangler presents the Sky-One-Touch Roof, which pops out the rear quarter glass.

Because Wrangler has a tapered nose you have great forward visibility.

Manufacturer’s Base Price is $51,695.

There is over $10,000 in optional equipment Offered. I would recommend the steel front and rear bumpers ($1,745) and Advanced Safety Group ($795) featuring automatic high beam headlights control, full-speed forward collision warning plus and adaptive cruise control with stop.
