Some you will remember this video, and for those of you who have never seen it, here’s your golden opportunity! Originally produced in 1970 as the closing scene in John Wayne’s “Swing Out Sweet Land” TV Special, John Wayne says, “This is my country, and I’m going to do good for it.” He goes on to say in his “true grit” fashion, “It just might work; we’ll never know unless we give it a fair try.” Isn’t that the truth? We believe he’s right!

Posted by YouTube user Orvil Morris, the video reminds us of a bygone era where people were actually proud to call the U.S. home — a time where they sang boldly, “…land that I love”. Do you still feel this way? Famous American icons proudly sing the lyrics to “God Bless America” throughout the video, including Johnny Cash, Dean Martin, Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, Glenn Campbell, William Shatner, Lucille Ball, and many, many more.

Generation after generation, it seems that we lose a little bit of patriotism as the years go by. The political climate in the U.S. today doesn’t help that any, and I urge you to remember the plight of our founding fathers, the “true grit” of our wonderful nation, and John Wayne’s words, “God Bless America.”

Let’s be proud to be Americans again.
