Despite the Houston Astros beating out the New York Yankees for the World Series bid, Jimmy Fallon shared in the excitement of the Astros World Series Championship win against the L.A. Dodgers by having José Altuve on the “Tonight Show.”
Altuve came out to a standing ovation on the “Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” Thursday, November 2. Only a day after his team’s historic World Series win, Altuve jetted off to New York to talk baseball, the championship, and how Hurricane Harvey affected his hometown of Houston with Fallon and his New York crowd.
As this video from the show’s YouTube channel shows, Altuve stepped out as his now famous rendition of the Backstreet Boys song “I Want It That Way” played in the background, performed by Fallon’s house band, The Roots. They added a nice, little twist on the lyrics as they threw in Altuve’s name.
Fallon asked Altuve did he ever think he would receive a standing ovation in New York City, to which Altuve so humbly answered no with that charming smile and laugh we have all come to love. They both exchanged gifts as Fallon gave Altuve black eye strips, which they both donned throughout the interview, and Altuve presented Fallon with a World Series championship hat.
It’s such a beautiful thing to see the love around the world Altuve and the Houston Astros are receiving for the great season and World Series they played for their epic championship win.
