John Graves handed his three-year-old grandson a Dr Pepper bottle, and when they put the cap on, they noticed a dead rodent inside.

As KPRC reported, John Graves was driving back from Galveston when they stopped to purchase a snack. Picking up a 20-ounce bottle of Dr Pepper, the family didn’t think anything of it. They took a few swigs and handed it to little Kayden.

When they picked up the half-empty bottle, they noticed a rodent inside. “This morning when they opened it they found something floating in there. Pretty good size. About three inches long with a big tail.”

They immediately took Kayden in to his pediatrician for testing – they collected blood and urine samples. The doctor also contacted the CDC and Texas health officials. The Graves family wants to have their own tests run on the bottle before handing it over to Dr Pepper’s staff to test.

The Galveston store owner assured KPRC that all of the bottles are sealed and checked for seals. “If anything was inside, it came from the manufacturer.”

However, a Dr Pepper spokesperson released a statement that claims, “it is virtually impossible for any foreign object to enter any container during the bottling process.”

Could this be an elaborate hoax? We’ll find out in the coming days.
