A Katy, Texas couple recently celebrated their fairytale wedding in royal style at Walt Disney World as part of a wedding contest held by ABC’s Good Morning America (GMA). Jay Patel and Alexis Preston were the winners of the Disney World giveaway and had their wedding televised live in front of Cinderella’s Castle earlier this month.

Known as the “Happiest Place on Earth,” Disney World made this couple’s dream come true after an 11-year courtship. The couple met in high school, but it was not an instant romance, according to an article by abc13.com. “[There was a] long period of time where I kept telling Jay, ‘No, I am not going to date you,” Preston said. All of that changed after college. The Youtube video below by Good Morning America highlights the royal wedding by Disney standards as the bride looked beautiful arriving to meet her groom in Cinderella’s carriage.

The royal wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle was a spectacular sight to see as thousands lined the streets of Windsor Castle waiting for a glimpse of the bride and her dress on Saturday, May 19. However, Disney in all its grandeur spares no expense in creating magical weddings of their own.

Although Jay and Alexis won their dream wedding, guests hoping to experience a royal wedding of their own have the chance to do so through Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons.  “Whether its a grand affair or intimate gathering, your special day will be enchanting, unforgettable and made just for you,” states their website.

Jay and Alexis’s wedding was even more special as the couple’s nuptials were put on hold due to Hurricane Harvey getting in the way. Winning the Good Morning America contest gave them the opportunity to complete their love story with the perfect wedding.

Can’t get enough of royal weddings? According to a press release, Freeform, a Disney’s television and streaming network, announced “a seven-episode series order” for Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings to return for another season beginning June 11.
