When 4-year-old Emmett told his family he wanted to be Pennywise for Halloween (despite never actually seeing the movie “It”) his mom knew it would probably be difficult to find a costume from an R-rated movie suitable for a small child. But the 4-year-old was persistent that he really wanted to be the scary clown he saw in a brief clip he viewed on YouTube. Emmett’s aunt, Claudia Negrete, told KSAT, “My sister in law bought a sewing machine — she has never used one before — because he really wanted to be Pennywise for Halloween (and) couldn’t find a costume, so she just tried it and it all came together.”

All of the hard work paid off because Emmett’s outfit has become an Internet sensation, and KSAT says he’s won several costume contests in his hometown of San Antonio including a costume contest at Wonderland of The Americas Mall.

You can see a full photo album of Emmett/mini-Pennywise in action around San Antonio here. And if you find yourself thinking, “Oh he’s more like a cute version of Pennywise,” take a moment to watch this recently uploaded video on his aunt’s Facebook page where Emmett opens his mouth, and any inkling of “cute” will float away.
