If you’re a makeup lover, get ready to clutch your pearls while reading about how an entire section of product was destroyed at Sephora. A make-up artist who goes by the moniker Extraordinary Life Makeup Artistry posted on Facebook that she and a friend were visiting their local Sephora store when they noticed a child and mom rushing out of the store. They quickly found the source of their guilty looks in the Make Up Forever section where all of the “Create Your Own Palette” compacts in the testers section were destroyed. Obviously, the child had a fun time smashing all of the colorful products! Revelist writes that it’s estimated that over $1,000 of product was destroyed (52 colors at $21.)

Extraordinary Life Makeup Artistry was absolutely appalled, writing, “Being me, I’ve needed to bring Allie into many makeup stores as she’s grown and had a strict ‘hands in pockets’ rule for her and a strict 10-minute rule for me. It was very helpful so if you must take your kiddos makeup shopping I suggest trying it.”

While many people were shocked by the destroyed make-up, others shrugged and wondered what’s the big deal? These were samples, and while it presents a hassle for the employees, it’s a simple mistake that only destroyed testers (product that could not be sold) and the actions didn’t hurt anyone. Like Josephine Fina Schaafhausen who wrote, “Looks like art to me!”
