After 38 years of providing family fun, the Kiddie Acres Amusement Park located at 4800 Howard Lane in North Austin is closing its doors forever. The park, which was known for its quaint rides, 70s style, mini golf, and pony rides, is holding an online auction to sell their little train, rides, and food equipment.

KXAN says the auction will start next week and end on August 8th. Look at the Jones Swenson Auctions website to see which items are up for bid.

The park will be sorely missed by Austinites who have visited it over the past four decades. On Yelp, the Kiddie Acres page now says “permanently closed,” but the lengthy reviews stating why people love the park still stand. James H. wrote: “This park didn’t look like much initially but I realized quickly that my kids were going to have a blast here. The draw of circular rides still runs strong at that age (under 7). The boat ride, airplane ride, car ride, merry go round, and Ferris wheel fit that bill and each cost a single ticket. There were also live pony rides and a train, both of which were highlights for the kids.”

It’s truly the end of an era.
