When Kingwood, Texas resident Michael Hoke walked into his local corner store last week, he picked up a scratch off ticket on his way out with the small inkling of optimism we all feel when we take the chance of buying a lotto ticket. According to ABC 13, the game he chose was Texas Lottery’s “50X the Cash,” and in Hoke’s case, the black and pink $10 scratch off ended up being a great investment. He won the one million dollar prize!

While the Texas Lottery website says that this specific game offers “$106.8 million in prizes,” they also say that guaranteed prize about for a pack of 50 tickets is only $175. There are still four more million dollar tickets out there in the estimated 15,280,500 scratch-offs released, but the Texas Lottery says that the odds of winning are roughly one in three million. Hoke is the first winner of the big prize for “50X the Cash” this year.

When stores sell winning tickets, they get in on the excitement as well with an eligibility for a $10,000 retailer bonus. ABC 13 says that Hoke bought the ticket at Jack’s Grocery on 1115 Hamblen Road in Houston. Will you be picking up one too?
