The city of Crystal Beach is located at the center of the Bolivar Peninsular, in Galveston County, and is recognized as a premier Texas vacation spot. Sandy shores and sunshine are easy to enjoy with seven miles of beach stretching along Texas State Highway 87. Accommodations in Crystal Beach range from beautiful beachfront properties to small private homes and the attractions are just as abundant. Fishing from the pier, swimming in the surf and touring the wildlife sanctuaries and historic refuge are just a few. Those that know about Crystal Beach and all it has to offer family members of all ages do these three great things.

1. Ride the Bolivar Ferry

A fun-filled ride on the Bolivar Ferry can be had between the Bolivar Peninsula and Galveston Island. The free ferry service is extended to both pedestrians and motorists, via the Texas Department of Transportation. It’s a great way to get out an enjoy the lights and some relaxing time out on the water.

2. Enjoy the Kemah Boardwalk

The Kemah Boardwalk allows visitors to enjoy some seaside shows and take a leisurely stroll at the same time. This unique entertainment area boasts retails shopping, amusement rides, and seaside restaurants. Visitors can climb on the Ferris wheel, and after a stroll, perhaps grab a great bite to eat or a local sweet treat at one of the concessions.

3. See the Point Bolivar Lighthouse

The Point Bolivar Lighthouse, which was constructed in 1872, is approximately 117 feet above sea level and can be clearly seen from Crystal Beach accommodations. This privately-owned lighthouse has been the backdrop for many a great family photo, and afterward, a boat tour can be had through the Galveston harbor to make a full sea-themed day of it.
