G.W. “Bill” Stewart, of Sonora, Texas sadly passed away this past Nov. 25, and his prestigious gun collection is going up for auction. A World War II veteran and Texas native, Stewart had been amassing a hefty collection of valuable and historic firearms.

Stewart’s collection includes revolvers, lever actions rifles and black powder handguns. The most prized possession in the collection is a Nimschke engraved Winchester Model 1866 Saddle ring Carbine. It’s expected to sell for anywhere between $10,000 and $20,000.

The auction is taking place March 13th through 14th in Fairfield, Maine. It is being held by The Julia Auction House who are known for handling high-end firearms auctions.

Stewart spent a lot of his lifetime collecting these rare Colts and Winchesters. He passed away just before his 90th birthday and had been married to Betty Meador since the 1950s.
