What To Do Near Llano to Get You Through to the End of Summer

Though the heat rises toward the end of summer, Llano activities are easy to find. Whether you love local history or have to get outdoors, Llano has something for you. While high temperatures may make you sweat, don’t let the heat get you down. Have fun in the summer sun in the Llano area with these events and activities.

If you love art, check out the evening Fourth Friday Llano Art Walk held on even-numbered months. The next event happens in August, which has the theme of White Linen Night. Dress in your coolest summer linen and enjoy sipping on cool beverages, shopping at area stores, and browsing through works from local artists. Because this event only lasts from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., plan to arrive early to the historic downtown square. Since the last of these events occurs in August, make this one of your must-do Llano activities.

Wednesdays through Saturdays, check out the Llano County Historical Museum for those times when you want to get out but stay away from the heat. The museum hosts several exhibits, including temporary showings. Exhibits range from Old West themes to more modern times. For those who love learning about the past, this museum should be a prime stop in the Llano area.

When you want to get out on the water, visit Black Rock Park. There, you’ll find camping, swimming, and fishing. If you own a boat, the park has a nearby boat ramp for access to the water. For camping, choose from campsites, cabins, and RV hookups. For those who want a little less rough in roughing it, try one of the air-conditioned cabins. A kayak rental facility, a playground, a horseshoe pit, and a sand volleyball court round out the amenities the park offers for its guests.

Llano County Opry

LanTex Theater in Downtown Llano Hosts the Llano Country Opry Each Month

Though the Llano County Opry only hosts a concert once a month, you should not miss it. Held the first Saturday of each month at the LanTex Theater in downtown Llano, the Opry showcases various country musicians brought to the show by the Heart of Texas Country Music Association. If you love country music, don’t miss this show.

Fall Creek Vineyards

Though located just 20 miles outside of Llano, Fall Creek Vineyards feels like an isolated bit of California wine country. Make reservations for tours of the vineyards and winery, or stop by for one of two tastings. This vineyard is close to Llano, so you can count the tastings as tours among the many Llano activities you can enjoy before the end of summer.
