A witty battle of words between the Pure Water Ice and Tea Company and a Wendy’s franchise located across the street in Lubbock, Texas, has come to an end as a result of Wendy’s corporate group stepping in. The growing signage competition kept locals on their toes (and laughing it up on social media) and became a viral online sensation picked up by several large online media companies.

Wendy’s Corporate Ends War of Words Between Lubbock Businesses

Wendy’s, with strong advertising and national social media marketing teams, stepped things up a notch with their streetwise words game in a head-to-head throwdown with the Pure Water Ice and Tea Company according to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, proving there was beef to be had (and not just the eating kind).

All meant in good humor, the signage battle began approximately a month ago when Pure Water offered free drinks to the Texas Tech football head coach, Kliff Kingsbury. They posted the offer loud and clear on their store’s advertising signage. Not to be outdone, Wendy’s Fourth Street and Frankford Avenue location picked up the gauntlet and offered him not only free drinks but also free food! From there, the rivalry has ensued.

In a recent report by Awesome98, however, the past few days of no response on the Wendy’s sign is a result of their corporate offices stepping in. We’re sure Kyle Smith, assistant manager at Pure Water, was quietly and patiently calculating his next signage moves, while Santos Perez, general manager at Wendy’s, had his next scathing response lined up, but the battle of wits is now over leaving locals unsure who the winner in this amusing mudslinging competition really was. It was fun while it lasted, Lubbock! And they kept it a clean fight…and pure.
