Its original section was constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. It first opened for business in 1939. In 1969, construction of additional rooms gave the property its total 39 accommodations and amenities.

The oldest structure of this multi-level complex features 18-inch adobe walls and is decorated with hand-carved cedar furniture. Its Native American décor and modern amenities (such as air conditioning) are carried throughout the newer accommodations. The real magic happens when you put your feet up, getting some long-deserved rest and relaxation!

Suites are available, boasting traditional adobe fireplaces, but for those who have just spent the day hiking in the West Texas sun, perhaps a dip in the pool is more apropos. If you’d rather just take it easy and enjoy the charming scenery you’ve perhaps only read about before, there are also porch swings to take advantage of!

After working up an appetite in the great outdoors, Indian Lodge can satisfy even the largest of Texas appetites at the Black Bear restaurant. Southwest chicken breast with wild rice and sautéed squash was just one of the restaurant’s recently featured entrees, and they had fresh cheesecake for dessert! The magic at Indian Lodge is best to behold in person, so book your stay through their Texas Parks & Wildlife page at the link available here, or call ahead for more details at (432) 426-3254.
