Daniel Rushing, a 64-year-old Orlando man sped out of a 7-Eleven parking lot after eating a sugary doughnut. The over-the-speed-limit departure caused a police officer to take notice and pull him over. Once the officer saw his concealed handgun license, they asked him to step out of his vehicle for safety reasons. Then, the exchange went downhill quickly.

KXAN reported that according to a police report, the officer glanced at “a rock-like substance on the floorboard where his feet were.” He continued on to say, “I recognized through my eleven years of training and experience as a law enforcement officer the substance to be some sort of narcotic.”

Unfortunately, what the officer spotted was actually Krispy Kreme doughnut glaze. Rushing attempted to tell him that he had just been feasting on a doughnut, but the officer was not convinced. Rushing was handcuffed and taken to jail.

It took weeks for the tests to return from the drug lab. Now Rushing, who was arrested for something he did not do, will ask for damages from the city.

Rushing stated to WFTV, “It’s a terrible feeling to go to jail when you have not done anything.” Hopefully, this unfortunate arrest hasn’t ruined doughnuts for Rushing.
