Thousands of Marbles Rolled Across the Highway After Truck Accident

Last week, a truck spilled red Skittles all over the highway, and this week, a truck lost its marbles! ABC 13 reports that a truck hauling thousands of marbles suddenly lost control of its trailer as it was traveling down the highway in Indiana. The trailer tipped over on the shoulder and its contents rolled out, making a big mess.

Indiana State Police Public Information Officer John Perrine quickly tweeted out a warning to drivers along with a photo of the unique event. He said that 38,000 pounds of sea green marbles were poured out of the truck onto southbound I-465 near the mile marker 41.

Thankfully, there were no injuries reported, but traffic became backed up as officials had to figure out how to clean up the mess. Chron.com says that vacuums were brought in to retrieve the majority of the marbles that rolled off of the street and ended up on the grassy shoulder and median. They ended up closing the highway off for most of the day.

Even though they used a vacuum to gather the marbles, one can’t help but wonder how many are still waiting to be found on the side of the road, unlike the melting Skittles from last week’s incident.
