Established in 1912, roughly 35 years after the town was established as a rail station, Martinez Social Club is still an active dance hall with two to four dances a week and a beautiful dance floor to slide across. Sunday’s dance is typically quite popular. Traditional country music is played by artists from all over Texas. The hall is also used for as a venue for weddings, anniversaries, and birthday parties. Plus, the Czech Heritage Society has an annual event here celebrating the area’s rich heritage.

Bring cash, as it is the only tender accepted. The charge at the door is 10 dollars for all guests aged 13 and up. Younger children are welcome with adult supervision. Beer and wine coolers range from $2 to $2.50; soda, water, and tea are sold for one dollar. Hard liquor is not sold on site, but a bottle can be brought in and an ice bucket setup purchased for $2.50.
A little tip here is to be mindful of which side of the dance floor you sit, as generally, couples who want to dance with only each other sit to the left, and single dancers plus couples who want to dances with multiple partners are on the right. A bonus of the right side is that it can be a bit cooler in the warm months due to HVAC routing. Pull on those boots and visit Martinez Social Club! You might just meet a lovely vacationing Canadian, whom you can buy a Pearl Light and tell her how much you love your state!
