Matthew McConaughey is Team USA’s Biggest Fan
If you aren’t watching the Rio Olympics with the dedication like that of Matthew McConaughey then you aren’t worthy of a “gold medal for Rio Olympic pride” like the Today Show suggests!
One of Texas’s favorite personalities seems to be omnipresent at this year’s Olympic Games. McConaughey is at every sporting event he can make, rooting for the home team and wholeheartedly supporting the athletes in their performances. Sometimes, he can’t even stay in his seat due to all of the excitement.

He stopped by Ryan Seacrest’s late night Olympics show to discuss what he’s enjoyed seeing and the overall feeling of the massive event.
When asked about seeing Michael Phelps swim, McConaughey said that the atmosphere changed “as soon as they call out his name, it’s clear the reverence that he has…we’re watching a real living legend.”
McConaughey is also a big fan of beach volleyball and women’s rugby. He chatted with the rugby team to find out more about why they compete and learned that they certainly aren’t paid enough to be motivated by money. They’re genuinely “chasing the dream.”
