Many of our fans have had a sort of love affair with llamas. They’re cute. They can sometimes be cuddly. Plus, they make some of the best internet memes! But did you know there’s a place in the Texas Hill Country where you can hang out with these captivating creatures while you drink beer or wine and take in the local scenery?
The Shady Llama in Wimberley is anything but “shady” (in the negative sense of the word, that is). In fact, it’s the exact opposite. It’s a welcoming Central Texas venue at which one can order a drink, enjoy some tasty food, listen to some great music, and play with llamas! There are actually five llamas and two miniature donkeys to pal around with, all of which are friendly and free to move about their part of the property as they see fit. They don’t “bother” customers but more “visit” with them. They welcome the affectionate attention of patrons.

There’s a selection of food trucks available on-site at The Shady Llama, located directly behind the bar. They feature great dining selections such as Cajun food, hot chicken wings, and even some Vietnamese cuisine! There’s also a tremendous beer and wine selection (a minimum of 20 to choose from at any given time), much of which is locally made.

While you’re visiting The Shady Llama and making friends with its namesake mascots, you can also take a nap in a hammock, or perhaps play a good game of cornhole, or simply enjoy the stunning Wimberley view! You can enjoy live entertainment most evenings. If you bring family and friends, you’re going to want to introduce them to the menagerie, for good measure!
