Mercury One will soon open a Pop-up Museum,”12 Score & 3 Years Ago: The Unfinished Promise of Unity,” on June 29. The exhibition will be held in Mercury Studios, 6301 Riverside Drive in Irving, Texas.
This immersive experience explores slavery, abolition, and the lives of African-American innovators in the U.S. It’s presented as part of Independence Day celebrations the weekends of June 29-30 and July 4-7. Over 100 artifacts, documents, and historical photographs are featured in the exhibit. Augmented reality experiences plus educational tools help give an insight into our country’s history.
12 Score: An Annual Exhibition

12 Score is an annual exhibition, chosen to follow last year’s “Rights and Responsibilities” museum pop-up. The exhibit partnered with the African American Museum of Dallas, the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, Frontiers of Flight Museum, Dallas Historical Society, and Old Red Museum of Dallas County History and Culture. A retail boutique featuring beautiful jewelry, artwork, and eco-friendly accessories from local African American artisans will also be available at the museum.

Mayden brings together such artifacts as a plaster cast of George Washington Carver’s hands and face and a 19th Century covered wagon. Also a note from Abraham Lincoln and the mourning dress worn by Mary Todd-Lincoln. Also featured is a Brown Bess Musket from the Revolutionary War and the 1936 Olympic Torch. Other artifacts include the 1949 edition of “The Negro Motorist’s Green Book” and “Martin Luther King and the Montgomery Story,” a comic book.
The exhibit features a replica of the Resolute Desk from the Oval Office, along with Santa Anna’s spurs taken by Sam Houston. A series of augmented reality experiences feature a covered wagon and a photo from Abraham Lincoln’s second inauguration. A visit to 12 Score will conclude with a moving look at slavery today. Millions of people are still locked in human trafficking around the world.
Self-guided tours are available every 15 minutes between the hours of: 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. (June 29); 11 a.m.–5 p.m..(June 30); 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. (July 4); 12 noon – 7:30 p.m. (July 5); 8 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. (July 6); 11:45 a.m. – 5 p.m. (July 7). General admission tickets are $20 for adults; $10 for children; $15 for seniors.
