After responding to a domestic dispute call in a Texas neighborhood on Monday, June 12, a Midland Police Officer joined in on another type of fight with neighborhood kids – a water balloon fight! Punam Pallanes, a Midland parent, told News West 9, “He stopped to help the girls tag team on the boys.”

Sebastian Galindo, one of the local West Texas kids involved, said that after taking the call across the street, Police Officer Jordan Oliver returned with presents of water guns and water balloons to play with them. Local parents said the kids won’t soon forget the fun or the lesson that he left with them. “He was telling me, ‘I just want them to have respect for police officers, make sure they pick up the trash, say yes ma’am, no sir,’” Pallanes said.

Officer Jordan Oliver of the Midland Police Department chose to step in on the summer fun when he noticed that the girls-against-boys game was a little one-sided. He explained that it was in hopes they would develop continued respect for police and encourage good manners. “It was really sweet,” Pallanes explained. “There is so much hate towards police. Whatever parents think (of police), rubs off on their children. This is just what kids need right now.”
