Millennials Try Midwestern Food for the First Time, It Doesn’t Go Well

By  |

The most embarrassing part about our country today might be millennials who have no idea what hash brown casserole is.

These five millennials undergo a Midwestern food taste test and try classics like hash brown casserole, a Portillo’s Chicago-style hot dog, Cincinnati Chili, a Jimmy John’s sandwich, and beer cheese soup. I have a hard time believing these five people have never encountered these options, let alone tasted them before.

This taste test goes about as well as you would expect, which means that most of the time, these five taste-testers generally poke fun at some of these great American creations.

In my family, making fun of beer cheese soup is almost sacrilegious, but they are right: it’s definitely something your drunk uncle whips up in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl when all the food is almost gone.

It’s pretty unbelievable, too, that they had never tried Jimmy John’s, which is national phenomena at this point. Someone make these five millennials try Texas specific foods next time.

We’d love to see how Big Red soda, brisket, and Frito pie goes over with this group, that’s for sure.
