“Okay how my mom just gonna close down the living room for a month??” 17-year-old Nick Denbow, tweeted on November 5th from his home in Ohio. He added a photo to explain his question. A 2-page long handwritten note was taped across the family living room entrance with zebra duct tape. It (partially) reads:

“This room has been cleaned for the holidays and is officially CLOSED until Thanksgiving. Special permission will be considered for you to sit on my clean furniture and/or walk on my clean carpet only after the following conditions have been met:

1) You have showered and are dirt- and odor-free from top to toe.
2) You are wearing freshly laundered clothing.

*If permission is granted … NO food or drinks are permitted at this time!”

Mom Michele Keylor wanted to plan ahead for the holidays, and cleaning up after Nick and his brothers is not on her to-do list right before celebrating Thanksgiving. Michele’s cleaning woes have really resonated in the Twitter world. Nick’s tweet has over 35,000 likes and 15,000 shares.

“She’s mostly joking about ‘closing’ it haha,” Nick wrote, according to Buzzfeed. “She just wants us to keep it clean and decided that putting a sign and tape up would make that clear.” Joking aside, ABC 13 says that the note has worked so far! The dogs and kids have generally stayed away from the impeccable living room.
