Each year, National Geographic Traveler magazine releases its 21 must-see destinations for the upcoming months. Listed among such cities as Sydney, Australia; Dublin, Ireland, and Phnom Penh, Cambodia is Texas’ very own Alamo City, San Antonio.
The publication’s “2018’s Best of the World” list is broken up into three categories: cities, culture, and nature. San Antonio was listed in the fourth spot out of a total of seven in the “cities” category.

According to George Stone, National Geographic Traveler’s Editor-in-Chief, the primary question the magazine receives from its readers is, “Where should I go next?” Stone said the Best of the World list is the publication’s answer to that question.
“We looked for cities that bustle with new energy and intrigue; parklands that percolate with vitality and ecological protection; and communities rich in local character that offer opportunities for cultural engagement,” Stone said. “Packed with surprise, humor and relevance, our list advances our National Geographic mission to explore, conserve and share unforgettable stories about the best of our world.”
National Geographic Traveler’s complete list can be found in the December/January issue of the magazine which is available on the publication’s website, NatGeoTravel.com/BestTrips2018, and in print form.
