January 23rd marks National Pie Day! While March 14th is known as Pi Day (due to the date 3/14 coinciding with the mathematical constant of pi), January 23rd is the day that the American Pie Council asks Americans to “pie it forward” by consuming delicious desserts and supporting those who make a difference.

Five locations of Norma’s Cafe in the DFW area are participating this year by offering their customers free pieces of Mile High Pie on January 23rd only and selling slices of Birthday Cake Pie to benefit the local nonprofit The Birthday Party Project for the entire month. This great organization throws birthday parties for children living in homeless shelters.

On the Norma Cafe’s website, they write that the Mile High Pie comes in “lemon, coconut, chocolate, and chocolate peanut-butter.” The Birthday Cake Pie, on the other hand, (seen below) is a limited-time flavor.

According to D Magazine, Norma’s Cafe will also be selling their “Keep Calm and Eat Pie” t-shirts for those who want to proudly claim their pie obsession. The free pie offer is for dine-in guests only and remains valid from 10:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. while supplies last. A handy list of locations can be found on their National Pie Day event page on Facebook.
