When a girls’ getaway comes to mind, New Braunfels, as the perfect setting, should be one of the first places that comes with it! Guys – don’t hesitate to call the crew up, load up the truck and drive to New Braunfels for a craft-beer-tour bachelor party, or check out the scene at the dance halls and honky-tonks. And maybe head out on the Guadalupe River the next day (after an aspirin for the morning after the night before, a coffee and a beer back if you’re feeling giddy) for some of the southernmost rainbow trout fishing in the country!

If you’re gang is full of music lovers, New Braunfels is home to the can’t-miss, awe-inspiring Gruene Hall. Just one of the many live music venues the city has to offer, this spring’s schedule of performers includes such great acts as Delbert McClinton, Reckless Kelly, Boz Skaggs, Asleep at the Wheel, Ronnie Milsap, CDB, and the venerable Jerry Jeff Walker, to name just a few!

Wine connoisseurs rejoice! The love of wine in general has been known to bring friends together over a glass (or ten) and start love affairs where just a spark existed before, and with more than 40 wineries, New Braunfels taps out as the winner for experiential wine tours and tastings. And there’s always one in the crowd – the beer fan! Relax, because New Braunfels is home to the Texas Hill Country Craft Beer Trail where, just as much as the girls “ooohhh” and “aaahhhh” over their vino, guys can sample some of the best hops ever to make it into a stein.

Finally…The Food!

Top it all off with a meal like Mama makes (don’t tell her we said that!) and you’ve got yourself a recipe for success. Among the wine bars, honky-tonks, beer joints and coffee houses that you and your friends/lovers will frequent is some of the best Texas Hill Country barbecue New Braunfels has to offer! Not your cup of tea? How about a steak that’s been dry-aged for 14 days and wet-aged for another 28? “Tender” won’t even begin to describe the deliciousness that comes from that combination! And if true ‘farm-to-fork’ is what your gang desires, some of the freshest Hill Country ingredients go into the meals in New Braunfels’ establishments. Just take a look around – there’s something for everyone!
