Jensen Ackles is a native Texan, a Texas Hill Country resident, star of the T.V. show “Supernatural,” and soon-to-be owner of a new craft brewery! If you love the local craft beer scene, there’s going to be one more stop you’ll need to add to your pub-crawl listings in short order. Not only that, but it will be close to Hamilton Pool, in Dripping Springs.

Family Business Beer Company is going to be owned and operated by Ackles, his wife, and Gino Graul, his brother-in-law. In an interview with KVUE, Graul, the general manager, said, “We’ve always kind of loved craft beer and been able to kind of bond. It probably originated about five years ago with myself, my brother-in-law and my sister. We were just doing some backyard BBQ.” And that hobby turned into a passion, “…And then a mild obsession, and then eventually we started to put together a business plan,” Graul noted.

Still in its fledgling stages, the business has two 15-barrel fermenters, and three 30-barrel fermenters to begin with. But already, locals are anxious to grab a seat at the Family Business Beer Company, with close to 50,000 followers on its Instagram feed and a number of comments, likes, and reactions on its Facebook page. “The response from everybody online and in person seems to be really welcoming and warming,” said Graul. “People are excited and looking forward to it.”

Just last month Ackles, while featured as a guest on the Conan O’Brien show, offered the first keg of the new craft beer to the co-star of “Supernatural,” Jared Padalecki, and fans got a hint of things to come. In fact, Family Business Beer Company will be offering blonde ales, porters, stouts, and barrel-aged beers. With something for all craft beer fans, the owners feel that variety is integral to their business’ success. They’re also ensuring their location can cover some bases many haven’t before. “We wanted to make sure we made it family-friendly, kid-friendly, dog-friendly,” said Graul. They’ve included a children’s play area, a snow cone machine, picnic tables, and live music. Family Business Beer Company is scheduled to open its door in October with a grand opening event. Follow them on Facebook and Instagram for regular updates!
