North Texas Nonprofit ‘Food for the Soul’ Needs a New Home
On Saturday morning, WFAA followed Kimberly Sawler as she distributed the last packages of food her and her husband’s organization, Food for the Soul, had stored in their rented warehouse. The couple founded their nonprofit in 2009 in order to deliver food to children in need in North Texas. Now, they’re hurriedly searching for a new space to store the nourishment so many children need.
CBS DFW reported on March 1st that the Sawler’s were looking for 5,000 square feet of storage room after they were notified they needed to vacate the space. They even had to cancel a food order because there simply wouldn’t be a place to put it.
“I can’t imagine that next week when they go, ‘hey, where’s my backpack food’ and they’re not gonna get it. Yeah. My heart is broken,” Kimberly confessed to WFAA.
Food for the Soul gives “24,000 meals and 16,000 snacks – every month” to children who often go completely without food during the weekends since they aren’t able to receive meals at their schools. If you have a lead for a new home for this nonprofit, contact Food for the Soul through their website or donate to help them out.
