This week a Reddit member shared their grandmother’s obituary which included a very eye-catching line in the first paragraph. It reads, “Elene Meyer Davis was born in Yoakum, Texas on the 7th of October 1924, and died on the 7th of June 2016, of complications due to congestive heart failure and the 2016 Presidential campaign.”
One commenter said, “I actually cut this one out of the paper when it came out and shared it with several friends. Sorry for your loss, but thank you and your family for a good laugh.”
Another person asked if Elene herself had written the line. Her grandson replied, “I’m not sure she had a say in it, but she was definitely not afraid of sharing her political views. Very powerful presence to be around.”
Even though it’s an odd line to appear in an obituary, it has led many to read more about this interesting woman’s life. Learn more about Elene here.
The sentiment of an election year leading to heart failure is sadly relatable since everyone has felt their heart ache for America this year. No matter who you back in the upcoming election, one thing unites us all and that’s the crazy stress of this draining election year.
