Founded in 1849 by German immigrants, Boerne is an obvious choice for celebrating Oktoberfest. Several premier breweries and restaurants are honoring the event in their own way. Visit them while strolling through town and down Haupstrausse (Main Street) while wearing a dirndl or lederhosen during the last weekend of September! There are no rules against open containers on Boerne’s Hill Country Mile, so you can snag a “brew to go.” Here are some sites reveling the Texas Hill Country’s German Heritage September 25th – 27th with newly released Oktoberfest beer, traditional treats, and festive music.

The Texas Hill Country team will in Boerne to help celebrate, and you can watch the festivities when we go live. Follow our Instagram page here and follow Creative Director Tony Maples here to catch all the fun!

A special tapping of Fruity Pebbles Macha Milkshake IPA will occur too. Sample this delicious collaboration with San Antonio’s Indie Coffee. This site has casual indoor and outdoor seating, is kid and pet friendly, and serves delicious, seasonal farm-fresh food.

Tusculum Brewing Company is just a few blocks down, at 236 S. Main Street, and it will be releasing their traditional Marzen lager for Oktoberfest. Brewed in early July and conditioning since then, it’s the perfect choice for a pint while you enjoy live music by Nef Hernandez on Saturday. Marvel at German architecture of the historic H.O. Adler building on Boerne’s Hill Country Mile while grabbing a tasty snack, or relax on the patio with friends and a beer for every palette.

Switch up the scenery a bit and celebrate “Ducktoberfest” at The Dodging Duck! This year marks the 19th annual tap brewed with German and Czech hops, resulting in a fruity malt taste. Traditional German menu offerings are available, as well as Ducktoberfest 2020 T-Shirts. Live music will buoy the place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Overlook the creek nearby while imbibing beer that has won six medals at the World Beer Championships. The Dodging Duck is located at 402 River Road.

Along the same creek is Little Gretel, a German and Czech restaurant at 518 River Road with traditional German Oktoberfest brews on tap, as well as Germanic wine. Paired with authentically crafted dishes, this is the perfect way to honor the ultimate party! Have some patio oompah fun while sharing menu items of European favorites and daily specials.

Looking to experience Oktoberfest in an abbreviated way? Get a growler filled and order food to-go, then celebrate at home! Boerne is thrilled to share its German heritage with you and your family from September 25th – 27th!
