Often times the best finds are not located of the main path. Wimberley has long been famous for its square of shops and cafés, but if you walk a little bit further south down RR12, you will stumble upon The Olde Towne Plaza, a quaint collection of shops with a low key, yet inviting garden and often live music. Within each individually designed building you will find an equally unique shop. The variety supplies something to please each wanderer within your group.

The first stop naturally will be FistiCuffs coffee roasters where the fresh brewed coffee is always free. The pride in roasting is apparent in each specially flavored cup of coffee. Here it is not the brew that’s up for grabs but freshly roasted and sealed bags of coffee beans to share with loved ones at home.

Moving on, cup of coffee in hand, you next enter Broadway Paul’s Collectables. Here you will find anything from a life sized Marilyn to an antique gas pump. Whatever your collecting heart could desire can be found in this, the largest of shops on site.

From there you may wish to venture into the two newest additions to the plaza, The Plump Red Pony and Blue Skies Boutique. The first of the two features handmade leather goodies. If a one of a kind purse from a skilled, retired saddle maker would bring your heart joy do not miss this shop. The ladder, Blue Skies Boutique is a collection of locally made gifts ranging from signs, to quirky coffee cups to adorable baby dresses.

After filling your bags with gifts and collectables stop into the two Art driven shops. The Wildflower Art Gallery and Gifts shop is one of two locations for the shop owner/artist. The shop is accurately named as the art features many gorgeous floral scenes. These do however stretch past standard canvas arts and can be gotten on the most useful of items to include umbrellas and tote. For and even more eclectic variety of art stop into Grahamstock’s Glass, Gifts and Gallery. Here you will find handmade glass décor and jewelry. All hand made with each piece carefully crafted within a kiln on layer at a time.

When you walk into the Olde Towne Plaza you can feel that you are someplace special. The vibe given off is so relaxing and inviting. If you spend time speaking to any number of the shop owners you will find a common narrative. None of them had intended to open a shop at all. They each, on their own, stumbled into the Plaza, fell in love and decided to stay. Be careful when you visit as you may get bitten as well and begin a new journey in life.
