Home to great livestock competitions, a queen’s contest and parade, Ag and Home exhibits and judging, and the opening of carnival and vendor booths on August 24, the Gillespie County Fair has so much family fun and phenomenal fair food, it’s hard to keep up! Live bands will start on the first night and there promises to be lots of live Texas music of many genres to listen to, sing along with, or cut a rug to! Billy Mata & The Texas Tradition will play on Friday night starting at 8 p.m., and Asleep at the Wheel and Casey Donahew will play on Saturday night at 8:30 and 10:30 p.m., respectively.

Carnival Rides and Racing

August 25 will be the second day of fair festivities, featuring midway and carnival rides you won’t be able to peel the kids away from! The Scrambler, the Ferris Wheel, tiny-tot rides, and so much more will keep the children, teens, and kids-at-heart busy for hours. Live pari-mutuel horse racing will also take place at the track, as the sound of hoof beats hustling to the finish line gives way to cheers of family and friends and of course the handful of lucky-loos that can judge a horse by its gait. For scheduled race days and times, visit the Gillespie County Fair Association website link provided here.
