With winter almost upon us, it’s a great time to think about some fun outdoor activities for the whole family and what better way to welcome Christmas time than with some outdoor ice skating fun! New York may have Rockefeller Center and the outdoor rink at Central Park but Texas has some wintry wonderlands of its own to create beautiful memories on ice.

Here are a few outdoor skating rinks around our great state of Texas to try out this winter season.

1. Austin – Ice Rink at the Whole Foods Plaza Rooftop

Thought Whole Foods was just a food market? Well, guess again. If you are in Austin, make sure to go to the Rooftop at 525 N. Lamar Blvd on Friday nights and all day and evening Saturday and Sunday for some ice skating fun under the stars going on now through January 7, 2017.

2. Fredericksburg – Eisbahn Outdoor Skating Rink

In its 11th year, the beautiful town of Fredericksburg once again becomes a winter wonderland right here in the Hill Country offering outdoor ice skating. Funds raised will go towards the Heritage School and Cystic Fibrosis, according to its website. So lace up those skates and join in on the fun now until January 1, 2017, at the 100 block of W. Main.
