Authored by Mary Delmore Balagia, “Patch the Hill Country Bunny,” is a children’s book for those 3-6 years of age which was inspired by a keepsake bunny. The gift was given to Balagia by her mother, who also instilled a passion for childhood outdoor adventure in the writer. In turn, Balagia wanted to share that with others.

“Patch the Hill Country Bunny” invites readers to join this adorable city bunny on an adventure through the Texas Hill Country when she visits Grandmother Honey Bunny’s house. It encourages young readers to appreciate nature through its depiction of the heart of Texas, with its inviting storyline and beautiful illustrations. Balagia chose to make use of photos from her own Hill Country adventures to make the connection to one of the Lone Star State’s most treasured places. Not only that, but this wonderful book is dedicated to her granddaughter and all those who likewise form a connection with nature.

“I have been dazzled by the beauty and absolute wonder of nature. Every time I walk through the woods, following the paths made by deer and other creatures, I discover something new and exciting,” said Balagia. “I wrote Patch the Hill Country Bunny for my granddaughter so that she would develop an early curiosity about nature and in turn share her discoveries with friends old and new.”
