Last Saturday afternoon, 58-year-old Ian Bremner was out shooting nature photography in Scotland near the villages of Dores and Inverfarigaig. His goal was to capture some red deer on film, but instead, he turned his camera to the water and snapped what is spreading through the internet as a “convincing” photo of the Loch Ness Monster.

“This is the first time I’ve ever seen Nessie in the loch. I would be amazing if I was the first one to find her,” Bremner told The Scotsman. Most people will glance at the photo and assume that it’s simply some jumping seals, especially since the far left of the picture seems to depict a seal’s face. Even though this is the logical explanation, it certainly isn’t the most exciting interpretation. Many people find it to be much more fun to believe in Nessie the Loch Ness Monster.

Nessie sightings date back to the late 1800s with reports of spotting the creature on the land and in the water. The legend continues to be an exciting mystery for many of those who want to believe and who like to dig through the evidence of photos and stories from people who have caught a glimpse of the elusive Nessie.
