The Pflugerville ISD board recently approved a pay raise for all Pflugerville Independent School District employees. New teachers will earn $46,000, and KXAN writes that “all existing teachers will receive a $1,250 step increase.” But it’s not only teachers who will see an increase in pay. PfISD staff will gain a 2.5 percent increase in their wages.

Pflugerville ISD Board President Vernagene Moss told the news, “Our action sends a strong message that we value our hard working, world-class teachers and support staff. As a district, we have increased our competitive position with our salary and benefits over the past several years.”

On the PfISD website, officials explain that the amount of pay increase was derived from studies comparing the salaries of other successful school districts. They’re hoping that the competitive pay will keep the excellent employees they already have and entice more to join PfISD.

There are a few more changes coming to the district this fall. Two new schools will open in town called Weiss High School and Vernagene Mott Elementary School, and they’re building a new campus for Timmerman Elementary School, leaving behind their old 1950s campus.
