“[My husband] talked me into racing and swimming pigs,” isn’t a sentence you hear uttered everyday, but that’s what Shannon Johnson told WFAA with a big smile across her face. The Johnsons bring one of the best attractions to the North Texas Fair and Rodeo, the pig races and the pig swimming tank.

“A lot of people had no idea pigs could even swim,” Johnson said, but many rodeo-goers are seeing for themselves that little pigs can hold their own in the water. The Denton Record-Chronicle says that Swifty, in particular, is the best swimming pig, hence the name of the operation – Swifty Swine Racing and Swimming Pigs. In fact, 12-week-old Swifty might be able to snag a Guinness Book of World Records after he trains for a while. Johnson says he doesn’t have his dive perfected quite yet to make it across the 8-foot tank in record time.

People of all ages come to Swifty Swine Racing and Swimming Pigs at the rodeo to see the pig races (on land) and the pigs who take to the water (which includes Swifty, Kevin Bacon, Kim Kardashi-ham and Ba-rack of Ribs Obama). Johnson says that she fills her show with pig-puns, and she’s always delighted to see how much people enjoy the pigs’ presentations.
