Texas Pokemon Go Players Find Body in Cemetery

By  |

While playing Pokemon Go in San Marcos last Thursday, a man and a woman came across a dead man in the Saint Joseph Cemetery off of Interstate 35 in New Braunfels.

The game uses GPS to allow players to move through the real world coinciding with the Pokemon world where “monsters” are roaming around. Wannabe Pokemon Masters must go to specific locations to collect items to play the game and catch the monsters. Often these locations are historic or iconic to the region. In this case, the man and woman were checking into historical stops at the Saint Joseph Cemetery, expecting to only find Pokemon.

Officials have stated that the lifeless body belongs to 34-year-old Christopher Robert Lowe who was murdered. KSAT reports that the Comal County Sheriff’s Office investigated his death as a homicide after noticing stab wounds and blunt force trauma.

The Pokemon Go players were not suspects. On Monday, it was announced that Luis Alberto DeLeon, 36, Sunee Marie Schriewer, 29, and one juvenile whose name was withheld, were taken into custody for the murder of Lowe. The sheriff’s department has not released any additional information at this time.
