Police officers in Parma, Ohio know it takes a lot of energy, care and resources to build a home, or in the case, a nest. After discovering an eastern mourning dove sitting in a newly built nest on a patrol car, officers didn’t shoo the bird away. Instead, they decided to make it an even more comfortable environment for the industrious little bird.

Officers taped an umbrella to the car and sectioned off the vehicle with police tape. They’ve really taken to their new feathered friend, naming her “Gerty.” They’ve even gone so far as to dig up worms for her and place them in a little cup! This dove must feel pretty special since she’s now an internet star as well as beloved by the officers of Parma.
