After spending over two weeks in the hospital, President George H.W. Bush has been discharged from Houston’s Methodist Hospital after battling pneumonia. He missed the inauguration while he had to undergo multiple rounds of antibiotics to fight infection, and he was only released from the ICU late last week. Bush is now 92 years old.

Bush’s post-White House spokesperson, Jim McGrath, tweeted out a simple press release following the former President’s discharge from the hospital. McGrath wrote, “He is thankful for the many prayers and kind messages he received during his stay, as well as the world-class care that both his doctors and nurses provided.”

Today wrote on their website that they’ve heard whispers that the NFL was happy to see Bush rebounding from pneumonia as well, and they invited the former President to take part in Super Bowl Sunday by acting as the honorary coin flipper for the game. There is no word on whether or not Bush has replied to the offer.

This has been a rough time for the Bush family health-wise. KHOU writes that Former First Lady Barbara Bush also suffered from an illness during her husband’s hospital stay. She was treated for bronchitis and has bounced back.
